Feature: This is a 4 day circuit trip that explores the enchanting and relatively untouched valleys north of Lhasa. During our trip we visit Tidrum Nunnery (4325 m) and medicinal hot springs; Drigung Monastery, the head of the Drigung school of Kargyupa order of Tibetan Buddhism; Reting Monastery (4070 m), one of the important Gelukpa Monasteries; and our trip culminates in Lhasa after exploring Namtso, the Sky Lake.

LHASA-TIDRUM NUNNERY (120 KM, 4 HRS)

Drive to Visit Ganden Monastery which is about 120Km away from Lhasa, afternoon drive to Tidrum Nunnery, it has a great location in a narrow gorge at the confluence of two streams. You can have the famous medicinal hot-springs there. Overnight stay at Government guesthouse of Nunnery Guesthouse( Dorm bed).

TIDRUM NUNNERY-DRIGUNG Til-RETING

Early drive to Drigung Til which sprouts from a high, steep ridge overlooking the Drigung Valley. Drigung Til is the head monastery of the Drigungpa school of the Kagyupa order, right now there are about 270 monks living in. Up to the hill of Drigung Til, there is one the holiest sky-burial site in Lhasa region, if you want to see the sky-burial, you need to ask for the permission from the the family of the deceased and the senior lama who conducts the ceremony. If they don't want you to attend, then just let it go.

we continue our drive through the Changthang plains to Reting Monastery. Reting Monastery is an important Gelukpa monastery in Central Tibet, situated in a sprawling juniper clad hill. Over-night stay in a Guest House.
 

RETING-NAMTSO LAKE

The next day we continue our drive to Namtso Lake, the 2nd largest salt-water lake in Tibet. The Nyenchen Thangla mountain ranges tower over the lake. During the summer months Namtso is dotted with nomad herders and their yaks and tents. Over-night stay in a Guest House.

NAMTSO-LHASA

Today we will drive back to Lhasa.
